My battle with ovarian cysts had began when I started experiencing a suspiciously sharp pain two weeks before my period would start, which kept getting worse and worse. At first, I thought it was menstrual cramps, but when the pain had reached my lower back and ran down my thighs, I urged my doctor to perform an ultrasound. As the results of the ultrasound came, my doctor announced: “You have several medium sized ovarian cysts”. Of course, I was shocked and frightened but my doctor advised to do nothing but come back in about 2 months to see if my condition improves.
But as the weeks and months went by, my pain attacks became much more severe and unbearable. I felt nauseated and was experiencing unbelievable heat waves swarming through my body. I started taking pain relievers on a constant basis. I was helpless, exhausted, and drained by this pain. I was desperate.
